Courses for Autumn 2010:

INTRODUCTION TO SILVER CLAY

Date & Time:     Mondays, 1/11/10 - 29/11/10, 2pm-4pm
Venue:              Ripley Arts Centre, 24 Sundridge Avenue, Bromley, BR1 2PX

Course content: Students follow a structured course covering basic Silver Clay techniques, using silver clay products (Art Clay/Precious Metal Clay) and Cubic Zirconia (CZ) gemstones. Projects include making pendants, charms and earrings or cufflinks, employing techniques which can be used at home. Silver Clay provides an excellent introduction to jewellery design and making. Ideal for beginner/refresher.

What the course will cover:  Silver Clay properties & handling, Shaping, Forming, Texturing, Drilling, Simple setting for lab-created stones (Cubic Zirconia), Bail-making,  Firing (various methods), Finishing

Cost: £70 per person. Includes use of tools, equipment and course notes. Materials are not included, but are available for purchase from the Tutor at a discounted price.

TAILORED TUITION

Tailored Tuition is planned around your schedule, and content is tailored to your requirements whether you’re a beginner wanting to learn from scratch, or you have some experience and want to learn new techniques and build on your experience.

Charm School Tailored Tuition can be from two to six hours long, depending on what you’d like covered. Techniques, such as those listed below, are presented in detailed demonstrations and groups are kept small so that everyone gets individual attention, expert guidance from the Charm School Tutor. Once you book, we discuss what you want to get from the course, prepare course notes for you, and give an estimated cost of materials. Silver Clay can be bought at special discounted price from the Tutor.

Charm School Tailored Tuition is held at your home or a venue of your choice, and is ideal for anyone who wants to focus on Silver Clay techniques and skills development. Each participant takes away finished pieces of jewellery at the end of the course. It's advisable for beginners to start with basic techniques, but anyone already familiar with these can choose from a wide variety of intermediate or advanced techniques, including those listed below.

Intermediate techniques

• Using Silver Clay Paste

• Making Hollow Forms in Silver Clay using combustible cores
• Setting natural stones in Silver Clay

Charm School tuition is tailored for you and held at your home or a venue of your choice.

Cost: cost £35 per hour (for 1-6 people, minimum 2 hours) includes:
