ABOUT SILVER CLAY
What is Silver Clay?

Silver Clay consists of microscopic Silver particles mixed with a non-toxic organic binder and water. It is an extremely versatile, pliable material which can be shaped by hand, moulded, textured and painted onto another surface.

Once dried (at which point silver clay can also be sanded and carved) it can be fired by kiln, gas burner, or hand-held butane torch. Silver Clay can also be fired with glass, enamel, ceramics and certain stones.

Firing burns off the binder and fuses the Silver particles, so Silver Clay shrinks a little when fired. Almost magically, firing the piece turns it into solid 99.9% Silver! Fired Silver Clay can be pierced, drilled, soldered and worked on and even hallmarked in just the same way as Sterling Silver. Silver clay refers to both Precious Metal Clay (PMC) and Art Clay.
